SelectCare is proud to have developed Adopt-a-Senior, a not-for-profit company. Adopt-a-Senior provides companionship visits to nursing homes and Chicago assisted living community residents who do not have visitors. During our research of the best providers of senior care services, we came across many nursing homes that did not meet our criteria to become recommendable 'best-of-class' providers. At these properties, we were disappointed to learn that many seniors without sufficient funds to pay for their own care live out their final years in state funded nursing homes without any family members or friends whom visit. Expectedly, most of these seniors suffer from severe depression.

To help overcome this tragic situation, SelectCare started Adopt-a-Senior, a not-for-profit venture. Adopt-a-Senior provides regularly scheduled companionship visits to nursing home and Chicago assisted living residents who do not have visitors. Adopt-a-Senior's companionship visits provide seniors with something and someone to look forward to each week. Adopt-a-Senior works with local businesses and colleges to provide companions, live plants and flowers to seniors during their final years. We also use funds to provide special requests such as train tickets for family members who wish to visit but cannot afford their own transportation.
